Program 01
Rural Libraries
Community libraries designed as village-level spaces for reading, digital awareness, women's learning circles, children's sessions, and practical knowledge access.
The need
Rural communities often lack access to reliable reading spaces, curated learning material, newspapers, children's books, basic digital support, and career guidance. Many children grow up without a library. Many young people use smartphones without structured learning support. Many women do not have safe public spaces for reading, discussion, and skill exposure.
A rural library can become more than a room with books. It can become a quiet institution inside a village.
The model
Each Champaran Foundation library will include:
- A physical reading room
- Curated books in Hindi, English, and local languages
- Children's reading material
- Newspaper and magazine access
- Basic digital access
- A trained local librarian
- Weekly reading sessions
- Women's reading circles
- Digital literacy sessions
- Career and exam guidance material
- Community notice board
Where possible, libraries will be embedded within panchayat buildings, schools, community halls, or donated local spaces.
Programming
